At Macosquin Primary School, Outdoor Learning is an essential and valued part of our teaching and learning. We believe children learn best when they can explore, investigate and experience the world around them. Across all year groups, children enjoy regular outdoor learning sessions that link meaningfully to their class learning.
In recent years, we have invested in developing our outdoor areas to make learning even more enriching. From nurturing our green zones to expanding purposeful play spaces, each improvement is designed to support curiosity and active learning. This year, we’re especially proud of our new sand and tinkering areas, which give children exciting opportunities to design, build and experiment through open-ended play.
As highlighted in our recent ETI inspection report, “The children relish the opportunities for outdoor learning, for example, through the sensory garden, polytunnel, play, mathematical investigations and physical education.”
