Residential Trips

At Macosquin Primary School we believe that learning continues far beyond the classroom.  For this reason, pupils have many opportunities to experience a range of trips and residential visits to supplement and extend their learning and to help to develop life skills.  Pupils in Years 1, 2 and 3 visit locations in the surrounding area, while pupils in Years 4-7 experience overnight stays at locations in Northern Ireland, Mainland UK and Europe.  Watch this space for lots of photos once each class returns from their visit!

Year 4

Year 4 pupils go on a two-day trip to Ballycastle and Rathlin Island.  As well as visiting the RSPB Sanctuary on the island, they also go to the Giant’s Causeway and Bushmills.

Year 5

Year 5 pupils travel to the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum at Cultra, Co Down.  They spend three days exploring the village of Ballycultra and the surrounding countryside.  They also have the opportunity to visit the Transport Museum.

Year 6

Year 6 pupils stay at Ganaway Activity Centre, Millisle, where they make full use of the outdoor and indoor adventures on offer.  They also visit Titanic Belfast where they take part in workshops and have a tour of the surrounding area on The Wee Red Tram.

Year 7

Year 7 pupils spend four days exploring the North Coast and surrounding area. Going off the beaten track, they experience coasteering, canoeing and orienteering as well as travelling to Jungle NI in Tobermore. An action-packed, high energy adventure which is not to be missed!

Year 6/7 Biennial Trip

As well as individual class trips, pupils in Years 6 and 7 also have the opportunity to travel beyond Northern Ireland.  This year, pupils will be visiting York and Scarborough.  Previous locations have included Edinburgh, Paris, London, Barcelona, Nice and Prague.
