🌻Science Week in P2🌻
13th Mar 2026
Our Primary 2 class had a fantastic time celebrating Science Week with lots of exciting experiments and a very special visitor!
Pupils became scientists and carried out an experiment to explore the density of different liquids using oil, dye and golden syrup. The children predicted and tested which items would sink or float in each liquid and were fascinated by the results.
Another favourite experiment was our “dancing raisins” investigation. We explored why raisins move up and down in lemonade but stay still in water, leading to lots of great discussion and scientific thinking.
We also enjoyed a special visit from a landscape gardener. He shared how science is an important part of his job. The children loved learning about plants, gardens and how science is used in the real world. We definitely have some keen and budding gardeners in our class now! 🌱🌼 A very special thank you to Maurice Tannahill for coming to visit our class.
Inspired by his visit, pupils planted their own sunflower seeds. This gave us the opportunity to explore the science of plant growth and what living things need to survive.
What a wonderful week of curiosity, discovery and hands-on science! ✨🔬
